Time is Ticking…

Eternity has been on my heart a lot lately. I was going to wait till next month to start my blog posts back up but this topic has been heavy on my heart. I decided to share this post before I officially come back from my longer than expected break from blogging.

“Teach us how short our life is, so that we may become wise.” -Psalms 19:12. I woke up a couple days ago and this verse was randomly laid upon my heart and I honestly could not understand the reason. I remember using this verse as an Instagram caption when I turned 21 last year but ever since that time I hardly gave much thought to this verse anymore. Yesterday, a good friend of mine came over to my home and we had a long conversation about the simple fact that life is short and eternity is long. Psalms 19:12 is a verse that convicts me because a lot of times as Christians we forget that we are only foreigners on earth and we live our lives as though we are here permanently. We choose to not evangelize to our unsaved friends and family members as if we forgot that one day they will die and give an account to God as to what they did with their lives.

Time is ticking. The truth is that we are all in line to go to eternity but no one knows what spot they are in line. The whole concept of life being short has given me a chance to think about how I will like to be remembered on earth after I go on to eternity. I want to be known as a woman of God who loved God fiercely and served him wholeheartedly. I want to be known as a woman who was bold about speaking the truth of the Word and who stepped up to be a voice for the gospel even when my voice shook. I want to be a woman who made hell angry and made their job a lot harder. I want to be a woman who lead the way so that many souls could come back to God. I want to use this blog post as a way for us to simply think about how we will like to be remembered on earth.

A lot of times because we think that we are so young, we believe that eternity is far away. The conversation with my friend allowed me to see how much time is ticking. We spend a lot of our lives pursing things we may consider important such as money, degrees, marriage, house etc only to realize that those things are not able to satisfy our true desires. There will come a point in life where there is nothing left for us to pursue and I do not want us to have regrets about how we pursued everything else but the one person who was worth the pursuit. I also want us to remember that no one is too young for death.

I do tend to be long winded with my posts but if there was ever a time to take a blog post seriously this is the one. I have given a lot of thoughts as to what is the main purpose of life and the one answer I can give is simply to make Jesus famous on earth. My friend said this profound statement yesterday and she simply said that “This life was not meant to be lived without Jesus.” This statement has proved to be the truth in my life. I could not possibly live this life without Jesus and I definitely do not want to spend eternity without Jesus. If you do not know Jesus, now is the time to get to know Him, God loves you but unfortunately the love of God would be wasted if you are not saved on the day of judgement. I will end this blog post with this verse from Ecclesiastes 12:13-14.

Now all has been heard;
    here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind.
 For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.”

Let’s continue to fear God and keep His commandments!
